MSCG Lock Disk Connection
Hi !
I am making a cluster system with RP5400 Server and E35 Server nodes. As per MSCG config I have to have one Lock Disk so have purchased HP A3311A (Storage System). I am connecting one end of the SCSI Bus this system to one node (E35 server on Narrow SCSI interface) and other End to RP5400 Server Ultra2 SCSI interface (where tape and cdrom are also connected). I have set SCSI ID as 5 which is not interfering on eitherside. My problem is that in IOSCAN, I can see this device from E35 server side but not from RP5400 side. Question is -> should I see this A3311A from both side at a same time to make it as LOCKDISK and as share volume ? and if so why I am not seeing from bothside what I am doing wrong. Help will be appreciated.

Re: MSCG Lock Disk Connection
1) One of your controller SCSI ID's should be set at 7 - the default and the other at 6. Note that the A3311A will accept either SE-SCSI disk modules or HVD SCSI disk modules (but the two musst not be mixed on the same bus) - the two are not compatible. While SE-SCSI is compatible with LVD SCSI; HVD SCSI is only compatible with HVD SCSI.
When configured correctly, an ioscan -fn should see the disk
from both systems.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: MSCG Lock Disk Connection
Two things to mention here:
1. You must not have the shared discs on the same bus as a tape or cdrom!
2. You are connecting dissimilar buses together on the HASS box, so you will have problems, and indeed may not work at all.
The E35 system is VERY old technology, in computing terms, and I recommend you look at getting anohter newer system with compatible connectivity.
