Multicasting from HPUX servers

Hi All,

Sorry for the duble post.

5 HPUX( 11i) servers are multicasting to this IP address 228.5.6.7. Why it's happening? Is it common.

So far I know this IP address( 228.5.6.7) belongs to multicast client.

I did a search on that IP address and got this info:

On page 226 of the SAM installation Guide you will find the following
information:

Note:
All Storage Area Manager components use UDP port 2715 for multicast at
228.5.6.7. If multicast is not allowed to pass through the firewall, this
port does not need to be opened.


This functionality can not be turned off.

But, why does it multicast to that address? What is the reason behind it? ......I guess, I need to check the doc for these answers.
