Multiple Oracle packages in some cluster

SG gurus, I have a 3-node cluster of 2 L's and one N. The N is the adoptive node and the 2 L's each run an Oracle DB package, one at 8.0.5 and the other at 8.1.6. Do you foresee problems when both packages run on the N at the same time? What special considerations would you highlight when dealing with two Oracle packages of different versions running on the same node?

Hi,

Works just fine. Don't overlook tuning your kernels and (memory/swap) for the worst-case scenario when everything is running on the same node. I also find that it is easier to move the ORACLE_HOME as part of the package rather than having separate ORACLE_HOME's on each node and letting ServiceGuard simply move the volume groups with the data.

Multilple Oracle versions on one machine is no problem at all.
With MCSG, you will probably want to run the Oracle listeners for each database on separate ports. This allows independence of packages, so they can be started/stopped on different servers as needed without affecting database packages not being moved.
