mv command issue

Hi guys,
I accidentally tried to move a file of 100gb from /home/xyz to /app/...
but then i came to know that the filesystem where i have moved i.e. /app there is no space of 100 gb on it...so i just did a ctrl-C ....and then interrupted it.....
I just wanted to know whether all my data is safe or not ..i.e. the original data of 100gb......Bcoz of moving....

Re: mv command issue

You should be fine, but why not just check the original file in /home/xyz?

# ll /home/xyz/whateverfile

If it returns the correct size and date, then you should be fine.

Re: mv command issue

The unlink() of the source file is not done until the copy is complete, so your source file is intact. The real problem is you. Whenever you are going to move any file, but especially a large file, it is prudent to first determine if there is a place to put it.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
