						i have an igelan card(A6825)installed on my rp5470 server.it can work well,but i found a little problem.
this is output of ioscan -fnk:
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===============================================
lan 0 0/0/0/0 btlan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP PCI 10/100Base-TX Core
/dev/diag/lan0 /dev/ether0 /dev/lan0
lan 1 0/10/0/0 igelan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A6825-60101 PCI 1000Base-T Adapter
===============================================
my problem is that why there is not "/dev/diag/lan1 /dev/ether1 /dev/lan1"?
i have checked the diver of igelan(it is properly installed) ,and executed "insf -eClan",but without any result.
anyone can help ? thank you .

						Hi,
this is pretty normal.
Run "lanscan" to see details.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

						You will not get device files for this card. As long as the card is working, everything is OK.

						There is no /dev/lan1 etc because that all was announced to be going away back in 1995 when 10.20 first shipped and HP started migrating from LLA to DLPI. One communicates directly with a NIC by opening /dev/dlpi and then attaching to the desired PPA.
There was some grandfathering of NICs which first shipped on 10.20 (mostly 100BT's) but that was about it. All the new NICs since then (11.0 and later) have been DLPI with little to no LLA support (save where it became clear that 5+ years of advanced warning wasn't enough for license sw manufacturers...)
