Nagios compile

Morning all,

I've been trying to compile nagios (www.nagios.org) to use on my systems.
I loaded ANSI C compiler from HP. but I'm getting some errors that I don't know about on compilation. I've tried to compile the same source code on Red Hat linux and that goes through fine.

system D270 (upgraded to 64bit)
OS 11i
ANSI C compiler B3901BA
Nagios 2.0 (cvs)

Here's what I did: -
go into the source code dir.
./configure
make all

Then I get the odd errors. (file attached with output)
Please don't throw any in-depth C stuff at me, all I can do with C is compile and install, not code!
Any Ideas, of what I can do to get this to compile.
Ta,
Sime.

Re: Nagios compile

I think you'll need to tell it where to find the gd libraries and include files. Try something like
./configure --with-gd-lib=/usr/local/lib --with-gd-inc=/usr/local/include

(assuming the gd libraries are under /usr/local - try searching for gd.h and libgd.sl)

Otherwise get gd from www.boutell.com

Re: Nagios compile

Yeah, I tried to compile the gd libs first, but even they failed. So I was going to come back to that bit. I read in the README file that you can get buy with out using the gd libs first then go back to them.
Might try a differnet compiler, maybe gcc.

Re: Nagios compile

You can gcc from the HPUX software porting archive in depot format. Do be sure tou get all the dependencies as well. All are in depot format as well.

Re: Nagios compile

Hi there,

you're going to have some fun with this. I don't know why, but compiling stuff under HP-UX has always been a pain!

I've managed to build Nagios 1.2, and I've attached the notes for you (OpenOffice format - Linux is my main system). The notes may give you enough of a clue as to what you need to do.

I might give 2.0 a go later (though I use an older version to maintain cross-platform compatibility).

Re: Nagios compile

Gents,
Sorry for the delay in responce. Been on bit busy on production stuff. (God damn users!!!!)

Thanks for the help, I'm sure that the document will help me get it compiled. Other wise I'll just bring in a linux server and put it on there!!!!!
