I am running named (bind) 8.1.2 patch PHNE_23275 and it on ocassion crashes on the server. The error message is as follows - /ux/core/inet/src/bind.src/bind-8/src/bin/named/ns_main.c:587: INSIST(evGetNext(ev, &ev
ent, EV_WAIT) != -1): Invalid argument failed.
Checking the web I find similiar errors mostly pointing to a space failure but in this case it is an invaild argument. Does anyone have any suggestions. The name server will run for months sometimes before getting this error.

Solution
The name server failed an internal consistency/assertion check. The
check was at line 587 on ns_main.c.
8.1.2 is a pretty old release....
Could be OS or just a bug between that version of Bind and your OS/librarries...
You may want to consider upgrading and see is the problem happnes again.

Re: Named 8.1.2 problem
If you are running 11.0 or 11.11 use the new bind:

live free or die
