Namesvrs file

Hi Team:

When i do a "what /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs"it returns
/etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs:
namesvrs: PHNE_16470

I could not find this patch on the box. Environment 11.0. N-class. Can anyone throw more light on this. Please help.

If you look at the first few lines of the file, this is what is in there.

This is called a what string identifier.

Hi Brian,

If a script has a heading that starts like
"# @(#) some_string" then, a 'what' on the script will return that string. So this file might be having this PHNE stuff hardcoded. You may be having the superseding patch to this patch and you can list it out by using the superseded_patches=false option in the swlist command.

swlist -l patch -x show_superseded_patches=false

Patch PHNE_16470 has been replaced by:


PHNE_24909 Latest Superseding PatchPHNE_20371 Best Available Patch

The namesvrs file is mainly for DNS (named services) and for NIS .

Do you have any problem with these??
