Re: Namesvrs

Hi Brian,

patch PHNE_16470 has been superceded and the latest patch is PHNE_24909,

http://us-support3.external.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/screen=wpslDisplayPatch/sid=7914201b02b278dd70?PACH_NAM=PHNE_24909

Check and see if any of the patch mentioned between PHNE_16470 and the latest patch is on your system. A superceding patch would have brought the fileover from the old patch and the old patch have been removed from your system.

Hope this helps.

Re: Namesvrs

Hi Brian,

you have patch PHNE_23249 on your system which superceded patch PHNE_16470. This patch has now been superceded by patch PHNE_24909.

http://us-support3.external.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/sid=3059c8801c7c0df053/screen=wpslDisplayPatch?PACH_NAM=PHNE_23249

The /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs file availabale through patch PHNE_16470 has been brought over to your system by the patch PHNE_23249.

Hope this helps.

Re: Namesvrs

Hi Brian,

You don't need to worry about this string as the patch name has been hardcoded in it. You can edit this file and make changes as you already have a superseded if not the latest.

Re: Namesvrs

The what string response is produced by the line:

# @(#)namesvrs: PHNE_16470

Based on a quick scan of all the startup configuration files (about 60 of them) in /etc/rc.config.d, only one has a patch name listed, which implies that it was an accident, probably introduced by a new member of the team who wasn't given rules for what strings. The 'normal' revision stamp looks something like this for what strings in /etc/rc.config.d:

$Revision: 72.4.1

or similar. It's important to know that the config files in /etc/rc.config.d are designed to be modified (unlike the HP-supplied rc scripts in /sbin/init.d. The fact that it has an old revision (ie, patch name) is fine...it hasn't been updated for a long time.
