Re: Need Help (vgscan: Warning: couldn't query physical volume "/dev/disk/disk9_p2")

This shows there are two disks in your root vg & one of them is not responding i.e. (dev/disk/disk9_p2)There could a disk failure. in rx6600 SAS disks are installed.
Just check for ioscan -fnC disk confirm that all the disks are showing claimed. you can map the path (/dev/dsk/cxtxdx) using ioscan -m dsf command. Incase of disk failure please call up HP for replacing the disk.

Re: Need Help (vgscan: Warning: couldn't query physical volume "/dev/disk/disk9_p2")

Fortunately it looks like all your lvols in vg00 are mirrored. one half of the mirror is up and running [/dev/disk/disk14_p2] while the other half of the mirror is broken
[/dev/disk/disk9_p2.]

As Sunil suggests, you need to do and ioscan to see it HPUX can see the bad disk. If so you can do a diskinfo /dev/rdisk/disk9_p2 and look at its size to see if you can read it. (a size of 0 is not good)

How to fix it will depend on what is wrong. Best case (e.g. disk is powered down or disconnected) you can just do a vgsync to re-sync the mirrors after you fix the problem. If you actually need to replace the disk, the steps are a little more involved. But again, because the lvols are mirrored, you can fix this without losing any data.

Re: Need Help (vgscan: Warning: couldn't query physical volume "/dev/disk/disk9_p2")

Hi Bill and Sunil,

Thanks for the response. Please find below the output and let me know if it is possible to remove /dev/disk/disk9_p2 entry from /etc/lvmtab.

# diskinfo /dev/rdisk/disk9_p2
diskinfo: can't open /dev/rdisk/disk9_p2: I/O error

< root@ > [vi: (root) pts/0]
#
# ioscan -fnC disk |grep -i no_hw

< root@ > [vi: (root) pts/0]
#

Thanks

Re: Need Help (vgscan: Warning: couldn't query physical volume "/dev/disk/disk9_p2")

You asked this in another thread already, right?

Why opening a new one?

Looks like a bad disk.

Please post

# sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd0 -q raid

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
