Need to format and re-allocate bad block on hard disk!
ok, I have a rx2620 w/3x36gb disks ( I know old). Fortunately my OS (11.23) disk does not have any issues. I have added a new (what can be termed as new), disk (one of the 3), and started to mirror my OS. every other logical volume mirrors perfect except for lvol3. During mirroring, it complains about ioerr and bad block message appears in log file.
Can I run a format, idisk, or some other utility that will tell the disk to ignore that bad spot so I can finish my mirroring? This is the second disk I have tried to get to work.

Re: Need to format and re-allocate bad block on hard disk!
Well.... Your best course of action would be to get new(er) disks that are not throwing a lot of bad sector errors. The closest thing to a low level disk formatter in HP-UX that I know of is mediainit. But I would not guarantee you will have working disks after using it.
