Netscape 6.x (B6835AA)

I just dl'd this from HP's site and installed it. I might have gotten some corruption in the dl but I can't get it to run. I get the following error when I run netscape:

nsNativeComponentLoader: GetFactory(/opt/netscape6/components/libwidget_gtk.sl) Load FAILED with error: no such file or directory

When I run netscape -h I get this error:

nsNativeComponentLoader: GetFactory(/opt/netscape6/components/libtimer_gtk.sl) Load FAILED with error: no such file or directory

Of cource I check for the files and they are there.
Anybody seen this? I'm running this on a C200 with 128MB RAM. I don't believe the system is a problem since this is a pretty new install. I've done some searching for patches and through the forums but I haven't seen anything relating to this error.

Hi Glen,

Did you verify you have GTK+ libs on your
system (see installation instructions of NS6).
You need also to define your SHLIB_PATH ( I
think you need to add /opt/gnome/lib in it...)

GTK : product B6848AA

OK, So I should have read more but thanks for the info and I dl'd the product you suggested and it works. Thanks!

Maybe you can tell me how to get rid of the nasty messages that come up because there is no network connection and it can't find some web sites. Most bothersome really but I could put up with it. Or maybe you should just recommend a manual to read?

Re: Netscape 6.x (B6835AA)

Glen,

If I really understand your problem you have
no network connection so when you start
netscape it says you "connection impossible
to...." (or something like that) ? You can
change that in preferences menu (change your
starting page). You have this problem because,
by default, netscape start with a non local page.
