Netscape and SOCKS
I am trying to get Netscape to access external web sites through our SOCKS servers. A get an error that the connection failed every time I try to access a site outside our network. I have tried using both the manual and automatic proxy settings with the same results. I have the same symptoms on three different HP 11.0 servers with two different versions of Netscape. Has anyone gotten a configuration like this to work? Any ideas what could be happening in my case?
Thanks,
Mark Seaman

Re: Netscape and SOCKS
I feel you must use manual proxy settings only in which you can specify the socks server's ip address and port number.
If socks proxy server is tunned or oppened for the particular web sites/services/ports for your source ip then it should work fine.
Even it may be possible that the access to external network may be blocked by the proxy for your workstation (ipaddress)
