netscape can't see Internet.
I just installed 11i, created my resolv.conf and added a line for our nameserver. When I run netscape it gives me an error that it can't find its home page. I can't search anywhere. I tried setting an environment variable SOCKS_NS= and then running netscape but same problem. Do I need to configure something else?

Re: netscape can't see Internet.
Can you get out on the Internet without Netscape? The first thing to check is to make sure your networking is working correctly. Some things to check:
1) Do you have a default route set up that lets you get outside of your network?
2) Can you do an nslookup on something like www.yahoo.com or itrc.hp.com?
3) Can you ftp to something like ftp.netscape.com?
4) Do you have a proxy server and is netscape set up properly to go through the proxy?
5) Is your /etc/nsswitch.conf file set up properly? The hosts line should probably be something like:
hosts: files [notfound = continue] dns

Re: netscape can't see Internet.
Hi,
If you hv a direct connection to internet (i mean a gateway to internet) follow the above procedure or if you hv a proxy server.
Click on edit menu --> preferences ----> advanced ---->proxies enter your proxyserver's ip
