Netstation 9- End of support

can you recommend another program for use with X-terminals than Netstation as the program we use, Netstation, is out of support from 31.01-2004

can i know what version of netstation are you using and on which version os OS platform ?

B4474FA bundle contains both the ENWARE and Netstation products
Version B.09.12 of the Netstation software contains new features and bug fixes.

Version B.07.11 of ENWARE X Terminal software is also provided.

We are using Hp-UX 11i and Netstation 7.1/9.1.

In our last support-agreement it said that HP will not longer give support on Netstation 9.1 after 31.01.2004 so we need to check other alternatives after this date.

Does this 'end of support' only cover 9.1 and not newer?

Hi Thomas,

I think the system is 11.0, there's no Enware software available for 11.11. The last released versions of Enware 7.X and Netstation9.X software are supplied on 11.0 hp-ux.

You can use the graphic emulator software, like Reflection-X. This is a PC software, so you will have the HP-UX CDE from this graphic emulator software.

There is no replacement for enware ot the newer Netstation s/w : best bet is to move to NCD900's and ncdware if you want a true xterminal enviroment or start thinking about the various Xemulation packages than run on PC's ...exceed, reflections X and the like.

we already run exceed on the pc's. As we control videos through our X-terms we are interested in keeping these.. I will check out the NCDware to see if it can be interesting for us.

There are Xterminals from NCD however they need a separate SW called NCD-Bridge.
This software is however also obsoleted for HP-UX11.i, it is only available for
HP-UX11.0.

The NC200X requires server software NCD NCBridge v. 3.2.
The NCBridge software supports the following hosts: SUN, HP, DEC (Ultrix, VMS,
Alpha Open VMS), IBM RS/6000, SGI, and other UNIX Platforms, Windows NT.
The 32MB DIMM requires Bootmonitor code version 7.10 or higher. Bootmonitor code
versions may be downloaded from the NCP ftp site (ftp.ncd.com).

There are no bugs left in those boxes! Just patch up to the latest and greatest patch and you'll be laughing! Guarenteed!
Last patch was about 1 year ago.. You can pretty much force install the binary on any ux flavour in tar format. I've had no problem running Enware 2 on any hp-ux flavour to date.
