Re: Network card speed settings
To check your cards capability:
# lanadmin
Enter Command: lan
Enter Command: display
"Description" will give you the type card:
10/100TX Full-Duplex
means that yo can run this card at 10 or 100 Mb and half or full duplex.
Remember that the settings on your crad must match the switch settings, and if the switch is set to Autonegotiate, so must your card.

Re: Network card speed settings
I've run lanadmin and get the following
lan0 Hewlett-Packard LAN Interface Hw Rev 0
Does this mean that this card can only run at 10mb ?
Thanks,
Hilary

Re: Network card speed settings
the output gives all lancards and you can see the NM-ID for each card.
then you can run lanadmin -x NMID and the output shows you the speed of the card, e.g. 100 Full Duplex.

Re: Network card speed settings
lanadmin -X CardIn 100FD
if the card cannot be switched it will give an error message.
btw, what does the output ioscan say about your lancard?

Re: Network card speed settings
Christians reply will give you the current setting, but I guess you'll want the upper limit?

Re: Network card speed settings
I think you will have to consult the Owners Guide for your server system:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/index.html
There you find the Core I/O that is in the system.

Re: Network card speed settings
I assume by the ioscan output that this is a D-Class server. The inbuilt lan is only capable of 10HD speed. Now if you want to purchase a card that will run 10/100 HD/FD I would recommend the J3515A single port lan card or J3516A dual port card. Both cards use the btlan4 driver.
