Re: Network Config

Hi,

Just a couple of questions.

Your network card has a valid driver and shows up as 'CLAIMED' when you do an ioscan?

What kind of network card is it?

Have you tried a 'linkloop' command to verify that you have good physical connectivity to the card?

If you have more than one card, do you have the LAN cable plugged in the right card? [Been there, done that. More than once! :) ]

Are you using a 1Gb fibre card? If so, do you have the transmit and receive switched? [Been there, done that, just last week. :) ]

Re: Network Config

Hi,

There are two things that I can think of.

1. If your system has multiple lan cards, you need to make sure the one you configured corresponds to the interface. Do a "lanscan"
and verify the path.

2. Make sure the speed of the interface is correct. Use "lanadmin -x ppa" (ppa is the number in the CrdIn# column corresponding to the interface) and check the speed. If it is a 100 MBPS interface, then you will need to configure it to 100 Full Duplex. You can use the command "lanadmin -X ppa 100FD" to change the speed. Hardcode it in /etc/rc.config.d/hp*conf file. Replace * with the network card type.

Re: Network Config

JP,

The status of my lan interface card shows "UNCLAIMED" hardware "UNKNOWN". How do I rectify this?

Re: Network Config

Hi again,

It sounds like you might need to load some software to pickup the driver for the card. What model of HP system are you running and what model of network card is it? You probably have the software for it on one of your Apps CD-ROMs, it's just a question of which package you'll need.

Re: Network Config

Is there a model number on the LAN card itself?

Re: Network Config

Try looking on the first application CD using 'swinstall' and see if there is a software package for that card. If there is, you should be able to install it and get the LAN card claimed in ioscan with a driver.

Re: Network Config

Hi,

When you said, you checked the status, it gave the impression that you had the lan card installed. Looks like you configured the default LAN interface that is only 10 Halfduplex while your GSC card is physically wired to the network.

As mentioned by JP, install the product J3514A from APP1 CD. If you run swinstall and select the CD, you should see it with the description
"100BT/9000 GSC for K and T Series". This will need a reboot.
