Re: network printer
Depends what kind of network printer.
If its a windows network printer the best thing to do is go to http://software.hp.com and download the CIFS/9000(Samba) client. Install it and you can use the smbclient command to connect to any windows printer.
If its not a windows printer, please provide details and a solution will be presented.

Re: network printer
1) Assuming the network printer is connected to HP Jetdirect, you can use SAM/hppi or interactively adding network printer without using the 'hppi' TUI --> see DocId: UPRTKBRC00013408
2) If it is a 3rd party network printer, the workaround is to configure it as remote printer via SAM.
a. Place an entry in /etc/hosts for the network printer and note the Internet Protocol (IP) address and printer name.
b. Use the SAM "Add Remote Printer" action.
-> Printer name: Enter whatever name you choose.
-> Remote server name: Use the IP address or name from /etc/hosts.
-> Remote printer name: Use the IP address or name from /etc/hosts.

Re: network printer
the easiest way is to do it with SAM
before starting the SAM make an entry of the printer in the /etc/hosts file.

Re: network printer
>> I Have hpdesignje1050 printer. The is ip base network printer & jetdirect software is not install .
1) Ensure the TCP/IP is configured on the HP Designjet. Follow steps at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpj05832〈=en&cc=us&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=24023&prodTypeId=18972 if not.
2) Once the printer has its own IP, configure the printer on your hp-ux system:
a) Login to hp-ux system as root
b) Run SAM
# sam
c) then choose:
--> Printers & Plotters
--> LP spooler
--> Printers & Plotters
Action: Add Network-Based Printer/Plotter --> Add Printer/Plotter Connected to HP Jetdirect
d) Press [OK] for hppi to run
e) on HPPI menu, choose:
1) Spooler Administration (super-user only)
then
1) Add printer to local spooler
supply all the required information & follow the instruction on the screen.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Pau Cen
