Re: network problem when D280 reboot
I would check /etc/rc.log for errors. Also, check /var/adm/nettl.LOG00 for duplicate IP or macs
#netfmt -f /var/adm/nettl.LOG00 > /tmp/log.out
shift +g to go to the bottom and search from there.

Re: network problem when D280 reboot
Hi China,
You didn't need to reboot the box. There are couple of things that you can do.
1. Ifconfig lan0
make sure the interface was up. If the interface was up and if you were not able to ping, then
2. lanadmin -> lan -> ppa 0 -> reset
This will reset the interface.
Try pinging again.
This could be mostly due to your switch configuration.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: network problem when D280 reboot
I have seen similar "maybe it works, maybe it won't" problems with LAN duplex and auto-negotiate issues. I think that's what Sri was alluding to as well when he referred to "switch configuration".
Since this is the built-in port, if possible, force the switch port to 10Mb and half-duplex, which is how these older ports run.
You can use lanadmin to see the settings, but these settings are the only way the built-in port runs. Lanadmin can also show stats (collisions, etc) for the port, maybe that will help with troubleshooting.
You can also use SAM to view LAN settings, and it will only let you change the ones that the port will allow (theoretically).
