new cdrom drive

Hi, I have a HP C3600 workstation and have added a new cdrom drive to it. The device is an IDE device (CD-RW). I am not able to see it during bootup. Do I have to run insf first.

Re: new cdrom drive

1) The device itsel must be supported by the OS.

Lets start here

ioscan -fnC disik

See if it shows up there. If it shows up as NO_HW at least the system recognizes it. You may need a driver.

Your hardware choices for a hp-ux workstation are a vastly smaller universe than say an Intel PC.

Re: new cdrom drive

Hi,

Check if you have this patch (IDE/ATAPI cumulative patch) on your system.

PHKL_24282 - 11.0

PHKL_24283 - 11.i
