new disk to be installed

Dear All,

We are having HP rp7400 two node cluster, with 4 CPUs, 4 GB RAM, 6 GB Swap, 6 X 36 GB SAN (va 7100) Fiber. Having HP 11i , Oracle 9i, 9iAS running on one of the Nodes, and live 4 oracle packages running&.

How to install 3 X 72 GB --- I want to know who to plan this and also want to incr. the swap memory. CAN anybody give me the details for this issue ie downtime, backup, LVM,databases etc&

Check the docs above...

Adding disks to MC/SG - are you creating a new vg or adding to an existing?

Adding to existing is pretty straight forward.

Just vgextend the vg with the new devices, extend (or lvcreate new lvols) existing lvols. Make a new map file:

vgexport -p -s -v -m /tmp/vgXX.map /dev/vgXX

Copy that to second node. On the 2nd node, vgexport /dev/vgXX ; mkdir /dev/vgXX ; mknod /dev/vgXX/group c 64 0xHH0000 ; vgimport -s -v -m /tmp/vgXX.map /dev/vgXX

XX is decimal value of your vg and HH is Hex minor number.

If you created new - then you also have to update the package cntl scripts on both nodes...
