new hp server

Hi i have purchased a new hp server.Very first time itself it was prompting for a root passwd at the console. From my previous experience ...i used admin/admin..but it did not help.How do i reset it. thanks

Default at setup is no password - just hit enter.

Have you tried the root login without any password.

root/

If you cannot login, boot the system in single user mode and reset the password.

Boot into single user mode

interupt the boot by pressing any key when prompted

enter bo pri to start booting

answer yes to interact with ISL

At the ISL prompt enter hpux - is

the system will boot into single user mode, and you should be able to change roots password

If you receive a new server it will ask you for the new password - you need to set it.

Do we talk about the GSP/MP/ILO/ILO2 MP or root password???

Copy and past the screen output - this would look familiar ...

Yes , I agree. I was able to boot the system to single user mode and break the boot sequence using Esc key. Then i interacted with ISL .Used hpux -is to boot single user. Then i reset the passwd for root.
