New PCI Card A9784A on rp 3440
Well, first time in my life, I am handed a brand new system with a fresh out of the design lab and manufacturing PCI cards in it and having a boat load of problems.
The server in question is rp3440 which has 2 of A9784A HP PCI-X 2G Fibre Channel/1000Base-T HBA cards.
My first problem was the june 2003 CoreOS DVD did not have the proper boot kernel for rp3440 and as soon as it got to the hpux install shell, started spitting out "mailbox error 10" messages for each of the cards every 2 seconds, which has renedered the shell useless.
Our HP solution architect rushed me a jun2004 DVD of coreOS which I blasted a new system on to this box but now, ioscan do not see these new cards. All I am getting is a PCI-X bus adapters, as if nothing is placed in them.
I tried the download drivers and support section's of the HP's website but can not find anything. As they came preinstalled on the servers, I do not have the install guides and/or any cd that might have the necessary software.
Can anyone tell me, where I can get the necessary drivers for this puppy ? As a full set, I have received a march 2004 cd set and on top of this, I still have the coreOS and software pack DVD's of june 2004 version, lent to me by HP, most probably not codeword protected at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: New PCI Card A9784A on rp 3440
Insert one of the June 2004 application CDs and mount it. Bring up the TABLE_OF_CONTENTS file and search through it A9784A. If the driver is on one of the CDs it will be listed in that file.
Once you locate the driver, scroll back up until you figure out which CD it is on.
Failing that, since this is a brand new rp3440, it most definitely should have warranty coverage. I would call the response center and tell them what you need. They should be able to get you the driver.

Re: New PCI Card A9784A on rp 3440
Hi Mel,
The drivers for the FC is FibrChanl-01 and for the Ethernet is GigEther-01. These should be available in your application media.
The PCI-X 2 Gb FC and Gigabit ethernet combination card installation notes at docs.hp.com has this information.
Also check the release notes for the Firmware requirement. I did a search on the software.hp.com with the above driver names and it is available for download, for free.
Hope this helps.
With regards,
Mohan.

Re: New PCI Card A9784A on rp 3440
Hi Mel,
It's been my experience that the faster the PCI card the more critical it's alignment within the slot is.
So try reseating it *very* carefully. My rule of thumb is - when you think you have seated it successfully, give it another push down & a front-to-back rock - twice.
Then...try another slot - slight possibility that the slot is the problem.
HTH,
Jeff
