New RP5410 with samd messages

Hi,

We just took delivery of a new box that we just powered up for the first time. We do not have it on the Network yet, but we are on the console in Run Level 3 and we're getting the following message when logged in:

INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly.
Will try again in 5 minutes.
Check for possible errors.
id:samd "/usr/sam/lbin/samd # system mgmt daemon"

Can someone maybe tell me how to stop getting this message repeatedly and also maybe what it means?

Thanks in advance...

Unless the OS came exactly the way you wanted it, I'd reinstall the OS anyway.

Its obviously an error in the /etc/inittab file. Elena's link will probably help if you don't want to do the OS over.

The samd daemon relies on networking.

You could boot to single user mode - then disable it....or just setup networking....

Re: New RP5410 with samd messages

The error came because you are not connected to the network and the system cannot resolve the network identifications. Once you connect the system to your network, this message will go away. In the mean time, you can comment this line from /etc/inittab file.

You may also check your network settings.
