First, download a current version that will be suitable for the OS version(s) you need:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html
You will use 'swinstall' to install the bundle you download. No reboot is required and man pages come along.
Volume group vg00 can be archived with 'make_tape_recovery' with the following simple command:
# make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn
