I have the applications disks and software codes for MirrorDisk/UX and OnlineJFS, but I have no clue how to install them, and I don't know if my support contract allows me to call HP for help.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some instructions on how to install this software?
Thanks for helping a newbie!

Re: Newbie needs software installation help...
To load the software is easy, put the CD in drive on the server.
Now mount the CD (you need the hardware addr of CD)
mount /dev/dsk/c_t_d_ /SD_CDROM
Now run swinstall
It should automatically go out and find the CD (a default thing..) Tab down and highlight the software you want and then hit Action/Mark to Install. Also under Action there is Add New Codeword...put it in.
Hope this helps...you may want to install one at a time, but that's up to you..

SolutionPlan to reboot (because MirrorDisk/UX and Online JFS update kernel filesets), and do the following:
1. Put the Application CD in the drive. For MirrorUX & Online JFS this should be the first CD of the Application set.
2. Mount the CD:
# mount -r /dev/dsk/cXtYdZ /cdrom
3. At the command line, enter:
# swinstall
> Choose ADD CODEWORD from the dropdown menus and add your codewords for the products you want to install. When this is successful, the products will be visible in a list you will be able to select them by hylighting them (with the space bar if this is a TUI session).
> Follow the prompts afterwards. An interactive (sw)install is very intuitive. You will be asked to confirm your intentions to reboot the system, since both MirrorDisk/UX and Online JFS add kernel filesets. Choose to do so now.

Re: Newbie needs software installation help...
As root user execute swinstall; if you are running under an X environemt you will get a GUI otherwise a character interface.
Use the CD mount point as the source; usually
SD_CDROM or /cdrom.
When the SD Install - Software Selection menu is displayed use the TAB key to move to the Actions -> Add New Codeword. This is where you enter the software keys that are unique to a particular CD Part No.(e.g. B3920-13987). Add the codewords for all the products on that disk.
More software selections should appear.
Use the spacebar to highlight a selection and then tab to Actions->Mark for install. You can repeat the marking process for as many products that are on that disk.

If the analysis succeeds follow the instructions and allow the system to reboot.
You're done.
