nfs & sendmail - stil not resolved

Hi again.

Stil have a problem with sendmail and mysql locking files on nfs. Trying to start sendmail under nfs i am getting "cannot lock file" with "No locks available" and some messages through the dmesg, like "klm_lkmgr: can't create client handle".

Nfs mount point is writeable by root and sendmail have setuid bits. Moreover after appling last ONC/NFS patch (PHNE_27217) i can see it only through the 'swlist -l patch'. Plain 'swlist' dosen't show it.

Do anybody have a suggestion to such a problem?

Is it any possibility to get a help from the HP itself and what is the way to get a help from them with no support contract?

HP will probably be happy to assign you an experienced Administrator with experience in this field.

Last time I referred a private client to them the rate was $250 an hour, two hour minimum.

If its important enough, its worth the money, but the project hours don't have to go up too much to pay for an annual support contract.

Hello.
For file locks - you may concider revisiting numbers specified in nflocks kernel param.

There is a procedure how to rebuild swlist registry if this is what you asking for.

Hope this helps,

The HP Response Center has an 800 number you can call for short-term consulting: 888-376-4737 They can advise you on terms and rates. Consulting can be remote (phone) or on-site. The Response Center also has a single call price for customers without a support contract (called PIRC or Per Incident Response Call).

NFS has always had a big problem with file locking (not just HP-UX). Recent patches may have corrected this problem. You might want to get the NFS book for HP-UX: "Optimizing NFS Performance: Tuning and Troubleshooting NFS on HP-UX Systems -- David Olker"
