NFS and sendmail
I'v got a problem under the HP-UX 11.00 with the last NFS perfomance installed patch. Running sendmail on the chrooted nfs mounted environment giving such bad result:
# chroot /www /usr/sbin/sendmail
cannot lockf(./xfgB32DQQ17647, fd=3, type=2, omode=37777777777, euid=0): No locks available
Can't create transcript file ./xfgB32DQQ17647: No locks available
Recipient names must be specified
cannot lockf(./dfgB32DQQ17647, fd=4, type=2, omode=37777777777, euid=0): No locks available
Cannot create ./dfgB32DQQ17647: No locks available
Where -
#mount
/www on xxx:/root_nfs defaults,NFSv3 on Tue Dec 3 03:47:56 2002
I was trying to encrease the number of nproc-s and nflocks, but it didn't help. All troubleshoting NFS procedures, including all rpcinfo showed no problems. No errors in statd.log or lockd.log.
One more problem is some strange messages in my dmesg on nfs client:
Unknown cmn_err level 0 in message: klm_init: lookupname: error 2
Unknown cmn_err level 0 in message: klm_lkmgr: can't create client handle (error 22)
I didn't found any description for such errors in any knowledge bases.

Re: NFS and sendmail
Are you running Both rpc.statd and rpc.lockd in both the NFS server and NFS client ?
Umount /www and see what is the directory permission of /www the mountpoint ? Is it
readable and writable by root ?
What is the permission of /usr/sbin/sendmail under NFS mount /www ? it should have the root setuid permission.
