NFS file system ownership problem

Hii ,

I am facing problem with ownership of one of the NFS file system from NAS device ( Snap Appliance 4500 ) .

found that the NFS file system (giza ) owned by user daemon and i can't change the ownership to root user.

/giza on x.x.x.x:/erp noac,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,acregmin=0,acregmax=0,acdirmin=0,acdirmax=0,NFSv3,dev=2000006 on Mon Jul 23 21:53:39 2007

# ls -la /giza
total 16
drwxrwxrwx 9 daemon root 111 Jul 23 18:56 .
drwxr-xr-x 20 root root 8192 Jul 23 21:55 ..
drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 45 Jul 11 17:40 .os_private
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 0 Jul 21 19:13 asd1
drwxrwxrwx 4 applmgr dba 28 Jul 23 18:34 data
drwxr-xr-x 3 65534 sys 33 Jul 16 11:31 giza
drwxr-xr-x 2 65534 sys 6 Jul 18 11:39 hany
drwxr-xr-x 2 65534 sys 6 Jul 16 17:38
drwxrwxrwx 8 65534 sys 90 Jul 16 13:28 stage12i
drwxr-xr-x 2 65534 sys 6 Jul 23 18:56 test1

when i create new directory/file as root,it's shows the above ownerships..that's why i am failing to install oracle application on this folder.

Any help appreciated

regards,

Re: NFS file system ownership problem

This is typical behavior for an NFS mount. Root is being treated as user anonymous (UID -2) which is also 65534 (16-bit two's-complement integer representation). Unless root is explicitly listed in the exports file of the server, root is not allowed access. You will need to study your server documentation to determine how to make this change.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: NFS file system ownership problem

Hii,

NAS was using linux, so I use the export parameter no_root_squash .
