nfs mount

Is there any way I can mount a unix directory from Windows 2000 without using any third party software?

Please let me know if this is possible.

Re: nfs mount

Hi,

I think that you need Unix system services in windows 2000.

You can use free software like samba too.

Justo.

Nope. The best software package to use is Samba, it's free.

Re: nfs mount

Hi,

No. Windows doesn't come with any default software supporting this task. You can only mount windows directories through network. You can use SAMBA, Hummingbird etc ..for performing this task.

Re: nfs mount

If the unix box you mention is an HP-UX box, then you can also use HP's CIFS/9000 software, which is basically HPs SAMBA.

CIFS/9000 comes in 2 flavors; client and server.

The CIFS/9000 client allows the HP-UX box to mount Windows shares. More information here:

The CIFS/9000 server allows windows boxes to mount directories from your HP-UX box, which I believe is what you want. More information here:

Be aware the the CIFS/9000 software requires that you be on HP-UX 11.X. It is FREE software as well.

Good luck.

Re: nfs mount

As said above, the only way is using samba. It's free and very powerful.
You can download it from here:
ftp://it.samba.org/pub/samba/bin-pkgs/hp/
Hope this helps,
