NFS over NIS

We have a workstation with HPUX 10.2 which is configured as NIS server. Now we installed a new workstation with 11.0 as NIS client. We want to export filesystem from this workstations and mount thru NFS. But it is not allowing. Once U disable the NIS, NFS is working. What could be the problem?
Can any one throw some light on this?

Thank in advance

Re: NFS over NIS

According to your message, the two workstations should be in the same domain. For NIS domain, each node can belong to a maximum of one domain. Actually, NIS server provides access to information in NIS maps to NIS client, and NFS server provides access to the server's file systems to NFS client. NIS run scripts are invoked before NFS client and server functionality is started.

Check /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs for apropriate NIS variables; check /etc/exports and make sure exportfs exports all entries in /etc/exports.

Hope this can helps.

Re: NFS over NIS

Hi Shahul,
what is the error messages?
NIS and NFs are not depended on each other.
you can export file system without having anyone of them as nis server or client.
we have number of servers-clients runs different version of UX and some are bind to nis domain some not. Some exports the file systems from 10.20 to 11.00 and vice versa.
