Hi
Help reqd.
I have a 2node cluster in WAN setup.I get NFSServer not responding error at 2000hrs everyday.
need help in analysing this
I cant keep track of cron jobs as the load is more on the server and it is 24x7
it happens for only 3 - 4 mins and start working fine again.
it happens every day
NFS patches are uptodate
AUTOMOUNT is used
no errors in nettl.LOG000

Re: NFS Server not responding - only for sometime
Amar,
as first steps, analyze what happens on the server during that 4 minutes after 20.00 ( e.g. the cronjobs running in that moment, the network connections, the sar and nfsstat statistics ).
Run "nfsstat -c" ( on the client ) and check for a great number of retrans
Run "nfsstat -s" ( on the server ) and make the same checks
Is your mount tcp or udp?
you have hard or soft mount?
Check the overload of your network during that minutes ( use a network analyzer , for example Ethereal http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Protocol-Analyzers-Sniffers/Ethereal.shtml )
Check also this checklist:
http://connectivity.hummingbird.com/support/nc/nfs/windows95/other34.html?cks=y
Waiting for more details,
Rgds,
Alex

Re: NFS Server not responding - only for sometime
I'm guessing, but, can you make an nslookup at 20:00 hs. ?
If not, probably you are loosing the DNS conecction at this time, everyday.
good hunting.

Re: NFS Server not responding - only for sometime
Hi,
It is usuallu caused due to high network utilization only. Check the same at the time when you get this error. That should give you some clue.
HTH,
Devender
