NFS V3-V2 performarces
Hello,
I've a NFS V3 server running 11i (NUM_NFSD=30, NUM_NFSIOD=16). On the Client 11i I've no delay problem even with NFS V3 than NFS V2 File systems. Instead a very poor performance with 10.20 clients that mount V3 file sistems (ls of a file take 3-5"); the 10.20 clients mount even V2 file system (from 10.20 Servers) without problems.
I would avoid to patch all the 10.20 clients in order to run NFS V3. Is there any chance to incresase the performance of 11i <-> 10.20 NFS
Thank you
Romano

Re: NFS V3-V2 performarces
Ive been reading Olker's book on "Optimizing NFS Performance" (you can get on amazon) and there seems to be very little you can do to improve V2 performance from a V3 server. V3 is definitely the way to go, increased buffer/cache sizes, new kernel parameters, lots of tuning options, but not on V2. I think even the patches wont help too much but it sounds like the only option you can try.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
