Re: NFS

Hi Nago,

Have you

1) Verified that the NFS server is up & reachable?
2) Verified that it has the dir properly exported?
3) Tried to unmount it on the client & remount it?
4) Unexported (exportfs -u /export/dir) & re-exported (exportfs -a)?
4) Stopped the NFS server on the server & restarted?

Rgds,
Jeff

Re: NFS

while i was sending the message earlier, i was restarting my NFS server. after which i issued mount -a on the NFS client.
everything is ok again but my concern is why would it fail in the first place?
thanks for the response. kindly give me an answer.

Re: NFS

Well, it could have been one of several things...

1) Network was saturated or dropped for a period.
2) NFS server was being hammered either in it's CPU, disk or network.
3) ditto for the client
4) Someone unexported the dir on the server.
