NIS and secure authentication
I set up an HP-UX N-Class ver 11.00, and ran tsconvert to set up secure authentication. Some timne afterwards, we had an urgent requirement to install NIS. This were my problems began. ypcat passwd and ypcat group, show the entries, and I have set nis in the nsswitch.conf file, but I cannot login to any of the accounts. I can su to a user and see the uid and gid. I also found that samba will not authenticate via NIS either. IS there a work around or will I have to revert back.

Re: NIS and secure authentication
Hi Paul,
Nis is not supported on a trusted system, NIS+ is. You have two options, untrust the system or configure NIS+.

Hope this helps,

Re: NIS and secure authentication
Hi,
According the next thread(and also some findings I had converting a system to TCB in the past) it is not possible (NIS + TCB)
