SolutionNIS provides for single point administration of system configuration files.
NIS ensures consistency of files across the LAN.

a. domainname [domain]
b. ypinit -m
c. vi /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs
(Edit appropriate NIS variables.)
d. shutdown -r
2.Create an NIS slave server (optional).
a. domainname [domain]
b. ypinit -s [master_server]
c. vi /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs
(Edit appropriate NIS variables.)
d. shutdown -r
3.Create the NIS clients.
a. vi /etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs
b. shutdown -r

Re: NIS in hp-ux
The Network Information Service Plus (NIS+), is the next generation of the Network Information Service (NIS). It is not an enhancement to NIS; it is a whole new service. Like NIS, it is a distributed database system that allows you to maintain commonly used configuration information on a master server and propagate the information to all the hosts in your network. This chapter explains how to configure and administer the servers and clients in an NIS+ namespace. It contains the following sections:
*
â Overview of NIS+â
*â Planning the NIS+ Namespaceâ
*â Setting Up the NIS+ Namespaceâ
*Administering NIS+â
*â Summary of NIS+ Commandsâ
Check below link , hope it will resolve ur problem ,
