NIS , LDAP and Passwords

Dear All ,

We use NIS and have around 1500+ entries in the NIS Password map. We have other NIS maps too like auto.home, auto.IT, group, auto.master etc.

Currently we do not have any LDAP Server. I would be building that either on Solaris Box or on a HP Box.

I want LDAP Server to server ONLY password map and NIS would server all other maps.

Please advice me on how to use NIS and LDAP, where LDAP Server will serve only PASSWORD MAP , and NIS Master will server all the other maps ?

Sashi,

You need the HP-UX LDAP client product, J4269AA.
To use ldap for passwd remember to change /etc/nsswitch.conf e.g. passwd: files ldap
