NIS Master / Slave

Hi Friends,

Wish You Happy New Year !!

I have few questions, which i feel the guys here can help me,

1. What happens if my NIS Master Server Goes Down ??
2. DO i need to do anything After Master is up?
3. Does Slave Servers just servers the resources or will it get converted as NIS Master?
4. Is it possible to Add/Modify users when NIS master is down?
and last one.
5. HOw to destroy the NIS config.

1. What happens if my NIS Master Server Goes Down ?? Your users will get all NIS information, without a possibility to change anything

2. DO i need to do anything After Master is up? Nothing

3. Does Slave Servers just servers the resources or will it get converted as NIS Master? Slave servers are only slaves, they can't convert themselves to masters
4. Is it possible to Add/Modify users when NIS master is down? NO
and last one.
5. HOw to destroy the NIS config. Stop NIS and rm -r /var/yp/{domainname}
