NIS problem..
Hi all,
My NIS server is Solaris.All my hp-ux Servers are binded to NIS server.
Problem is :If I restart ypserv services at NIS Server side,some hp-ux Clients machines are hanging(home directories are not mounting).what may be problem...?.
Please help me..

Hi,
that is the normal and expected behaviour and is not related to the OS version of your (single) NIS server.
That's the reason, why redundancy of NIS servers is recommended.

The Universe is a pretty big place,
it's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before.
So if it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space, right?

You might want to setup a NIS slave server, which could the clients alternatively bind to. You can refer to this document, http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/NIS-HOWTO/ypserv.html, it is primarily for Linux but usable for HP-UX as well.
