NIS question
On Solaris servers if NIS is running in non-broadcast mode the ypservers file is used to denote which servers are the primary and secondary NIS servers. Is this the case with HP-UX? Any information is helpful.....Thanks

Re: NIS question
Hi Erik,
It is just the same with HP-UX.
ypservers is a map containing all the servers (master/slave) of the domain.
The following link could help you:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90682/B2355-90682.html
Best regards,
Dan

Re: NIS question
Erik,
Yes, 'ypcat ypservers' will show you your NISDomain primary and slave servers. The first server is your primary and rest are slaves.
Jim.

Re: NIS question
NO - it is definetely not the same on HP-UX.
HP does not feature a 'ypservers' file to list the servers to contact. What the other posts are talking about is the 'ypservers' NIS-map (which is another thing).
The functionality is not a part of HP-UX. you will have to do with ypset (yes and it s....).
The only other thing you can do is to have your router "help" over the ypbind requests (portmap). It can be done using the "IP helper" function of Cisco's (do not know with others)
