NIS setup
I have read the Doc KBAN00000276.
I would like to understand what is the "bound server".
On the master server, the "Bound server" is the IP address of a MC serviceguard package!!!
On the slave server, the "bound server" is the name of the salve server.
Do I need to have the same address on the both sides?
we have 3 ethernet for our cluster:
qstru04:/# lanscan
Hardware Station Crd Hdw Net-Interface NM MAC HP-DLPI DLPI
Path Address In# State NamePPA ID Type Support Mjr#
10/4/8 0x001083180675 0 UP lan0 snap0 1 ETHER Yes 119
10/4/16 0x00108304FCE8 1 UP lan1 snap1 2 ETHER Yes 119
10/12/6 0x0060B0C43408 2 UP lan2 snap2 3 ETHER Yes 119
How to specify the right ethernet interface with the right IP address?
Anyd ideas?
Thanks
Didier

Re: NIS setup
I am assuming you determined which server you are bound to by using the ypwhich command. I don't think it should make any difference which server you are bound to with NIS. You should be updating the NIS maps from the master to the slave(s) regularly so they should all be up to date. You should get the same behavior whether you are bound to a slave or to the master.

Re: NIS setup
Now, I have stopped the slave NIS server.
Whe I issue a ypwhich on the master node, I get the IP address of a MC ServiceGuard package and not the IP address of the lan0 ethernet card of the server.
I would like to understand how NIS works and why we had not any problem with HP-UX 10.20.
Thanks
Didier
