NIS Users cann't login
Hey Admins,
I have a linux-system running a nis-master-server, a second linux-box running the nis-slave-server and a linux-box running the nis-client.
All of that runs great without any problem. But now I want to add a HPUX 11.00 and an AIX 4.3.3 system to that NIS-domain and both boxes have the same problem. I can "su - nisuser" and can work with that user, but when I "telnet" to one of this servers, a only gets a "invalid user or password".
On the AIX I even cann't find any logfile, on HPUX the syslog and dmesg brings no error-message relating to NIS or the login-try.
ypwhich and ypcat brings the right output from the right master-server.
Anyone can help me ??
thx
Martin

Re: NIS Users cann't login
Hi Martin,
I don't anything about AIX.
you says ypwhich brings correct output that means It is binding to linux server right?
Where is your home directory for users? Is it nfs mount or local on system? What is the default shell for user? Linux has bash as default shell (/bin/bash). HP don't have that shell, so you can create link in bin/bash -> /bin/csh.
