Re: NIS users not able to login into CDE
Hi,
Check your /etc/nsswitch.conf file. Also try moving the .dt directory of the NIS user to .dt.old
Regards,
Karthik S S

Re: NIS users not able to login into CDE
From your CDE login panel, try "Options" - "Command Line Login". Login from here and see what is the error messg after successful login.

Re: NIS users not able to login into CDE
The problem is probably somwhere in hostname resolution.
- Is the name of your workstaion configured correctly in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf and are the same name and IP-address entered in /etc/hosts of your machine.
Is the NIS server correctly looked-up on your workstation, and is your workstation correctly looked up from your NIS-server (try nslookup.
And then you also need a CDE Temporary Directory on an NFS share on your NIS server. It has to bet set in your inetd.conf files on both server and client by adding option " -auth_dir" for dtspc.
The temporary directories on server and client have to point to the same physical filesstem and need to have the same path.
