NIS users problem

RP7410 HPUX 11.11

I used the "Name Service Switch" in sam and all of a sudden the box reboots itself and now i can not add any "local users" to the system.
Sam now say "NIS users" where it use to say "local users". How do I undo "NIS users" and get back to managing "local users".

Re: NIS users problem

So you like using SAM?

By enabling the name service, you probably also enabled NIS. So SAM is displaying the right thing, with NIS enabled you no longer have local users, you have NIS users. If you do not need NIS, you have to unset it. See if SAM has that detail in the "name service". If not you have to look in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file and delete the NIS service from it. Also check if the NIS services have been set up to start. You should turn them back off.
PS. HAve a look at my personal quote...
