NIS+
I am looking for a forum that has some focus on NIS+ configuration and administration. Any suggestions?
I am currently experiencing some NIS+ issues that cross HP support organizations, which is slowing their responses to me. Here is what I have encountered:
1. If I deactivate an account on the NIS+ master server and then attempt to use that account on an NIS+ client system, that system reports that the account is disabled. However, when I reactivate that account on the NIS+ master server, the account is still disabled on the NIS+ client system. Please note that I did checkpoint the domain after enabling the account and did try the account at various times after enabling it to ensure that I allowed enough time for the NIS+ tables to be updated.
My environment consists of one NIS+ master and two replica servers. In this case, both replica servers reflected that the account was reactivated and I could use that account to log onto the replica servers. The only way I could log onto the NIS+ client system was to blow away the /tcb/files/auth/?/accountname file and then log into the system.
HP has given me conflicting information about where ttsyncd, which is suspected to be part of the problem, is supposed to be running. The conflict is whether or not ttsyncd should be running on the replica servers and not just the master server. Currently, I have it running on the replica servers as well as the master server.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob
