NIS +

We're planning to set up NIS+ on our systems. Does someone know if there is some problem to convert a system in trust mode after setting up NIS+ ? Is there any problem between NIS+ and Service Guard ?
Thanks a lot

Re: NIS +

NIS+ (unlike vanilla NIS) is compatible with the trusted database; you will have no problems. NIS and/or NIS+ works just fine with MC/SG.

By the way, NIS (and NIS+) is not really a long-term solution (it's lifetime is limited) so you should really be looking at LDAP.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: NIS +

no points here...

Clay, I wonder if HPUX Cert will ever learn that and remove NIS from the SA requirements?

My very very very large Telecommunications company has never used NIS...of course our systems are only managed on a 15:1 or upto a 30:1 basis of Server:SA...
Unix, the other white meat.

Re: NIS +

The recommendation which I think is now a requirement - is to configure NIS+ first and then convert to trusted. We use that process and have no problems. NIS+ and SG also work fine as previously mentioned. I assume this is 11.0. Patches are very important. If you have problems check your build level.
