no destructive hardware diagnostics

Are there any no-destructive/disruptive hardware diagnostics that can be run while the system is up and running?

Specifically for the FC10 and memory?

Re: no destructive hardware diagnostics

Take a look at some of the exercise utilities within STM. If you haven't used STM before its probably best to start with the xstm X windows version asuming you have a GUI interface.

Re: no destructive hardware diagnostics

Hi,

stm is the best online utility to check any hardware diagnose.

Use mstm for character based output and if you want GUI based output then use xstm
For memory you can use glance, gpm (for GUI)
Good luck,

Re: no destructive hardware diagnostics

#/usr/sbin/xstm

You can follow the menu without any problem. gives you lot of diagnostic info.
More than what you bargained for ;-)

Re: no destructive hardware diagnostics

For memory, stm.

for the FC10, it depends upon how it is hooked up to your server. If it is direct then, then start stm, use the graphical one, so set DISPLAY. Go down to the disk area, and on the left you should see "FC disk enclosure". RIght mouse button click, then select "Information". It will take a minute or two, then a log window pops up.
