All the disks are accessible and the server is up and running. I trying to find as what caused this.

Thanks

Re: NO_HW errors in ioscan after EMC Firmware upgrade

Jagadesh,

You already know what caused the NO HW status in ioscan. You got two options, you could rollback the firmware upgrade to contact EMC and let them know about the issue. Firmware is considered a HW issue and most likely the updrade generated an incompatibility between the EMC array and the HP-UX OS.

Jaime.

Re: NO_HW errors in ioscan after EMC Firmware upgrade

All devices are control devices, but how about your disks?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: NO_HW errors in ioscan after EMC Firmware upgrade

Do you have the EMC inq utility installed?

Run that and see what it shows for disks attached to your server.

inq is a free utility from EMC.

Example output (which will probably not display very well here):

# inq
Inquiry utility, Version V7.3-771 (Rev 0.0) (SIL Version V6.3.0.0 (Edit Level 771)

Re: NO_HW errors in ioscan after EMC Firmware upgrade

Thanks for the responses.
Checked the disks (ioscan -fnC disk). All are in claimed status.

Could you please let me know what is the use of /dev/rscsi. As after the emc firmware upgrade only one /dev/rscsi is claimed and all remaining are showing NO_HW.

Re: NO_HW errors in ioscan after EMC Firmware upgrade

Could you please let me know the use of rsci (/dev/rscsi).

I can see only one /dev/rscsi claimed remaining all are NO_HW.

Ho Jagadesh

You can run
"powermt check" which will remove the NO HW message
then run "powermt config"
which will reclaim the device

then run "ioscan -fnC disk"

Re: NO_HW errors in ioscan after EMC Firmware upgrade

powermt binary is not available in the server.

What is the use of /dev/rscsi?
