Have a brand new server (see above). I have tried connecting the monitor via both a thin client & an old HP 700/96 dumb terminal. Neither display anything. Have the black cable connected to the console port (serial a). Have rebooted, shutdown, powered off then on again - all to no avail. Also restarted the thin client.
Starting to think there is a problem with the video.
Anyone any suggestions on what else I could try?
Thanks,
David

Re: No video on new RX2620 Itanium Server
A dumb terminal can be connected to the console cable of the W connector that serves as console, remote control etc.
This appears to be what you've done. This is connected to a GSP card or CSP lan port(depending on the model) and if that has failed there is nothing you can do software wise to gain console access.
I reccomend using mstm or some other tool of choice to check the hardware and make sure it all works.
I think based on your post you are GSP and that's a card with a CPU and mini OS on it and they sometimes ship dead.

Re: No video on new RX2620 Itanium Server
You have 2 options to connect to the server as graphics cards are supported in the server but not for use with HPUX
you have 2 serial ports (A+B)on the right hand side looking from the back. You can use serial port A.
OR you can use the Black 25pin to 3 9pin adapter cable supplied with the server if you ordered the optional MP card. Installed in the middle of the rear panel
The 25pin connector goes to the server and then you connect your 700/96 to the one labled console.
If you have the MP card installed this is the default console path set to VT100+. The console needs to set to VT100
If you do not have this then serial port A is the default port, this will also be set to vt100+ as standard and your console should be set to vt100
