Nobody account

Hi,
I am having trouble with the nobody account and make_tape_recovery. The restore does not seem to like the nobody account. Does anyone have any information on this issue?

thx,
Tim

Hi,

Error messages ?

Re: Nobody account

Hi,

Nobody account has a negative UID used to make problems during restore because it was read as a large positive UID. This should be avoided, but last pax patches have been integrated into recent releases of hp-ux to take care of this.

Try to upgrade IUX.

Regards,

Jean-Louis.

Re: Nobody account

Actually this is a problem a colleague of mine is having (he doesn't like to ask for help). I believe when he recovers it says something like:

pax_uix error connot restore nobody nogroup files.

We can then push a shell and "exit 2" and the files take on root:sys ownership. this is on a 10.20 system.

Re: Nobody account

This account is provided only as a valid name for NFS mountpoints. If you don't use NFS, you can certainly do without it. But recreating it is trivial--just add the user using SAM. You can also edit the passwd file but only for non-trusted systems.
